Jamie & Jeremy McOuat recall dancing, tearful vows, & comedic capers
We had a fabulous wedding AND reception there on May 21, 2000. My in laws, our best man and maid of honour flew in from Hawaii with others coming from California, Nova Scotia, Alberta, Ottawa, all over Canada. My father had to side step me down the aisle as there was so little room.
Everything was planned long distance by my Dad, Jimmy Orr and his ILA union buddies from the long shore as we were living in New Jersey and about to move to England.
Imagine the telephone conversations:
Dad: So and so sister's uncle's cousin is going to do the cake.
Me: What kind of cake it is?
Dad: You know, the good kind.
15 minutes late starting (they forgot to leave the bride with a car big enough to fit the dress so I drove in my underwear and ran up the back stairs as guest milled about outside in the Victoria Day weekend sunshine). Pat Gallagher was a great host, placating divorced parents over seating arrangements and settling those who were already indulging at the open bar that my Dad was compelled to open due to my tardiness.
Forget the canapes! We spread ou
t over the two dining rooms after the ceremony by Mary Eileen Flanagan with musical accompaniment by guitar and violin wedding favorites such as "Hello Dolly" and then we partied till midnight. My uncle, David Orr, prowled the hallways long past that soliciting for follow revelers to continue - we didn't answer from the bridal suite.
We have lived in England for the past decade but are coming home next month and will try to drop off some hard copy photos that really show the inn (many of staff, her majesty's portrait overseeing events, dancing, tearful vows, comedic capers like our ring bearer (our dog, Bubba, a cockapoo) escorted down the stairs by my brother-in-law and then guarded FBI-style throughout the ceremony, me about to tumble down those same stairs with my 15 foot train that look like a doily for the last supper. Most were taken by the guests with throw away cameras.
Most of the digital shots of our staged photos (attached) have the flag pole growing out of the wedding party's heads. It has been ever-thus.
Cheers,
Jamie and Jeremy McOuatEngland

Our Day was Perfect!
We wanted to share our special day back on August 17th, 2002. We had a beautiful outdoor wedding; everyone in our wedding party was praying for sunshine and boy did we get it - it turned out to be 30 something that day.
Our day was perfect; Bob and Pat took care of all of the fine details to make our day a great one!
Many Thanks,
Troy & Krista Nesbitt
It is almost a second home to us.
April 23,1966 was a beautiful spring day, with the temperature reaching 82 degrees in Rothesay. It was also Frank Leger’s and Prissy Doyle’s wedding day, with reception being held at Shadow Lawn.
Over the years since that day, we have attended many functions at Shadow Lawn. It is almost a second home to us.
Jamie and Mary Ann, we wish you many successful years as gracious innkeepers, following in the footsteps of Winks Fleming (who owned Shadow Lawn in 1966), Willie Ward and Jamie’s parents, Pat and Margaret Gallagher.

This was a perfect place for our special day and cannot say enough about it.
We were married 15 years ago at Saint Mark’s Church but had a beautiful wedding reception at Shadow Lawn, July 26, 1996.
It was a foggy, misty evening but by the time we got to Shadow Lawn the rain had stopped and it seemed to brighten so we had pictures taken outside and in.
We had 50+ guests for a lovely stand-up finger food reception.
This was a perfect place for our special day and cannot say enough about it. We still like to eat here.
Getting to maybe spend a night would be a nice anniversary bonus.
Regards,
Joan and Andy Campbell
Thanks for the Great Memories.
We were married on July 4, 1992 at The Shadow Inn
Having family and friends in Ontario, Newfoundland, North Carolina, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick, The Shadow Inn was a perfect location for our wedding and family reunion.

Thanks for the great memories.

Nothing was overlooked and it was a
marvelous evening.
When looking for an intimate place for our small wedding reception 25 years ago on July 5th, 1986 we immediately thought of the Shadow Lawn. Its reputation of excellent food and service was the same as it is today - second to none.
Before the dinner we were served lovely drinks outside as the photographer took some photos. We were warmly welcomed by the then owner Willie Ward and he even served us drinks in his tuxedo.

We had arranged for my favourite meal of filet mignon and it was impeccably prepared and served by the capable staff. The table was classically set with fine china, real silverware and a linen tablecloth. Nothing was overlooked and it was a marvelous evening.
We would look forward to returning to celebrate our silver anniversary and sharing memories with our family and friends.
Cheers,
Ross and Jackie (nee Little) StroudWe're so happy we had our wedding at
Shadow Lawn.
Here are some photos from our wedding on September 7, 1996. We were married outside in the garden with approximately 120 guests present.
We planned our wedding in a mere 6 weeks, with the fantastic ass

istance of your father in law, Pat Gallagher.
He was essentially our wedding planner; from the wooden lattice outside, where to get the invitations and for name of a disc jockey; he made the whole process seem easy!

We are so happy that we had our wedding at Shadow Lawn, what great memories!
Thanks so much
Tina and Bob Haines
The sun came out just in time!

Flashback to our wedding reception at Shadow Lawn – May 21st, 1988.
Somehow the sun came out just in time! The food was wonderful and a good time was had by all.
Best Regards,
